United Mid-Coast Charities (UMCC) has donated to over 50 agencies in Knox and Waldo Counties.

Just as UMCC has endured for years of giving to charitable organizations serving people in need, so has its original style of operating. We do not waiver from three important tenets:

  • All contributions are distributed. No administrative deductions are ever made.

  • UMCC is an all-volunteer organization. There are no paid staff, only volunteer workers, including our hard-working Directors.

  • An endowment pays all expenses like postage, paper, printing, CPA & office services.

Board of Directors

We are determined to keep these tenets for the next 69 years!

UMCC’s Officers and Directors are committed to an ongoing screening and evaluation process to provide the fairest possible distribution to organizations on our roster.

All contributions are 100% distributed; administrative expenses are completely covered by an endowment fund set up specifically for that purpose.

Your contributions are divided amongst the agencies with the greatest need. In general, the Directors take into consideration many categories of need as requested by organizations. The funds get divided approximately this way: 47% to Children's Services; 24% to Community Service, 17% to Medical Service, 12% to Educational Service. Should you wish to direct your contribution to a specific organization, just let us know.

"It is an amazing opportunity to
have a situation where two
people can make a positive
difference in each other's lives
-- or maybe that's the definition
of friendship."
