Searching for Grants and Foundation Funding
United MIdcoast Charities is a Funding Information Network (FIN) Partner of Candid (formerly the Foundation Center), offering resources that help non-profit organizations and individuals identify sources of grants and foundation funding. Our staff is certified by Candid to assist users with funding prospect research using the Foundation Directory Online.
As one of just two FIN partners in the state of Maine, we offer free grant-seeking assistance five days a week. Foundation Directory Online allows grant seekers to search more than 140,000 registered foundations in granular detail to identify funders who are eager to support their work. UMC provides free access and one-on-one coaching to any nonprofit representative working in our two-county service area.Through our partnership with Candid, we help nonprofits fully fund the operations that make such a crucial difference in our community.
In 2019 alone, more than 50 nonprofit representatives used this resource at our Camden office to find additional funding for their organization. 100% reported that their visit resulted in strong new funding prospects.
Just like our Learn With UMC workshops, FDO is freely available to all nonprofit board members, staff and volunteers working in Knox and Waldo counties. FDO searches can also be valuable tools for municipalities, libraries, educational institutions, artists and individuals searching for scholarships.
