Community Volunteer Hub Privacy Policy

United Midcoast Charities with the initial volunteer support of the Middle Ground Working Group (“UMC,” “we,” “our”) manages the Community Volunteer Hub (“the Hub”), a program designed to connect residents with local volunteer opportunities. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, stored, used, and shared.
Hold Harmless and Indemnification
The [Party/Organization/Individual] (“Indemnifying Party”) agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless United Midcoast Charities, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives (collectively, the “Indemnified Parties”) from and against any and all claims, demands, causes of action, liabilities, damages, losses, judgments, settlements, costs, and expenses (including, without limitation, reasonable attorneys’ fees and court costs), of any kind or nature whatsoever, whether known or unknown, arising out of, relating to, or resulting from the activities, acts, or omissions of the Indemnifying Party, its officers, employees, contractors, agents, representatives, invitees, or volunteers.
This obligation expressly includes, but is not limited to, claims arising in whole or in part from the negligence, active or passive, of any Indemnified Party, except to the extent prohibited by law. The Indemnifying Party’s obligations hereunder shall be continuous and shall survive the expiration, completion, or termination of this Agreement.
1. Information We Collect
When you submit your information through the Hub, we collect:
● Contact details (such as name, email, phone number, address)
● Volunteer interests and skills
● Availability for volunteering
● Any other information you voluntarily provide
2. How Your Information Is Used
Your information will be stored in a secure, cloud-based database hosted by Little Green Light.
● Your data may be accessed by nonprofits, municipalities, and organizations with fiscal agents (“subscribers”) who have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UMC.
● Subscribers may use your information only to contact you about volunteer opportunities.
● UMC may use aggregated, non-identifiable data to evaluate and improve the program.
3. How Your Information Is Shared
● Subscribers who access the database are required to follow applicable laws, including the CAN-SPAM Act, and may only use your information for volunteer-related purposes.
● UMC does not sell your personal information beyond the necessary fees charged to subscribers to maintain and manage the Hub.
● During the pilot phase, subscribers are not charged a fee for access. After the pilot, UMC may charge a subscription fee to cover program management.
4. Your Choices & Rights
● No Guarantee of Contact: Submitting your information does not guarantee that you will be contacted for volunteer opportunities.
● Opt-Out: You may request at any time to be marked as “inactive/do not contact.” After this, subscribers will no longer be allowed to use your data through the Hub.
● Direct Removal from Subscriber Lists: If a subscriber accessed your data before your opt-out request, you may need to contact that subscriber directly to be removed from their individual lists.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no system is 100% secure, and UMC cannot guarantee absolute protection of your data.
6. Changes to This Policy
UMC reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be posted on our website and become effective upon posting.
