With the holiday season just around the corner, United Midcoast Charities is calling on businesses in Rockland, Belfast and the Camden area to participate in the fourth annual Day of Giving on Saturday, December 14, 2019.

Businesses that sign up by November 14 will receive publicity and recognition through press releases, paid ads in local papers, e-newsletters, postcards to local residents, prominently displayed posters, and promotion on Facebook.

Participating shops commit to generously donate a portion of their sales from the day (or a flat donation of their choice) to UMC. All proceeds will be applied toward UMC’s grants, which help food pantries, health clinics, nursing services, homeless shelters and other providers of vital services in Knox and Waldo counties. Day of Giving businesses raised nearly $10,000 for local charities in 2018. Day of Giving 2019 is generously sponsored by Allen Insurance and Financial and Camden National Bank. UMC’s yearlong partner Media Sponsor is VillageSoup – Courier Gazette & Camden Herald.

“The past three years, Day of Giving has been a highlight of the holiday season, and it has been gaining momentum each year,” says Sierra Dietz, owner of the Grasshopper Shop and a driving force behind Day of Giving. “This year we want to build on that momentum with even more businesses showing their support for the good work of UMC. What a wonderful way to incorporate the spirit of giving and give back to the community!”

Interested businesses should call UMC at (207) 236-2299 or email admin@unitedmidcoastcharities.org before November 14. For a list of businesses already signed up, please visit UMC’s Facebook page or www.unitedmidcoastcharities.org.
