UMC Executive Earns Nonprofit Management Certificate
Megan Williams, executive director of United Midcoast Charities, has earned a certificate in nonprofit management through the Maine Association of Nonprofits in partnership with MindEdge Learning.
The online certificate program included key management topics for nonprofit organizations such as fundraising, board and volunteer development, budgeting, reading financial statements, leadership, marketing and setting strategic direction. The program offered insight into how nonprofit professionals apply key concepts in their own organizations.
“Our new vision for UMC is to be a model of nonprofit management and to share knowledge and resources with the organizations we serve,” said UMC Board President John Viehman. “Continuing education for our staff is key to achieving this goal. It helps make our organization stronger so we can do the same for others.”
Williams joined United Midcoast Charities in 2017. This September, UMC distributed $500,000 in grants to 44 organizations in Knox and Waldo counties. UMC is gearing up for year-end fundraising to support its 2019 grants program.
